Flammable Storage Regulations

Storage of flammable substances, such as paints, glues, solvents, lacquers, etc. , must comply with safety and fire prevention standards and fire stores must be built using materials that comply with UNI EN ISO 13501.

D.M. 31.07.34 is only binding for mineral oils and states that:

  • For quantities exceeding 1,000 kg of flammable substances, isolated storage with safety distances of at least 3 m is mandatory.
  • For quantities not exceeding 700 kg, the contiguity of the deposit with the inland areas is possible provided certain requirements are met.

and ask for free how to store flammable mineral oils according to current regulations.

Classification of flammable liquids

Flammable liquids are all substances in liquid form that have a strong predisposition to ignite, even causing explosions, and therefore represent a serious risk for the safety of people, companies and the environment. Special storage requirements for fire protection , apply for all flammable liquids. These liquids are divided into different hazard classes according to the flash point which is determined by the temperature at which they catch fire:

  • Category A - Liquids the vapours of which may give rise to bursts: liquids with a flash point below 21 ºC
  • Category B - Flammable liquids: liquids with a flash-point  that ranges from of 21 °C up to 65 °C
  • Category C - Combustible liquids: liquids with a flash point that ranges from  65 °C up to 125 °C

For some substances, therefore, room temperature is an important risk factor when it exceeds the point of the flammability of the substance because the flammable vapours of the substance, reacting with air, develop an explosive atmosphere. In view of the high risk, it is therefore essential for all substances in Classes A and B that specific measures be taken to prevent fires.

and check for free how to handle flammable substances depending on the flammability class, especially for the storage of more liquid substances in order not to risk having in the same warehouse combustibles and oxidants as otherwise prohibited by law.

REI120 Certification

The fire resistance of each closing element is expressed in the function of the time in minutes in which the element maintains the properties of stability, tightness and heat insulation.

REI is the acronym for:

  • Résistance: resistance and static stability of the structure in case of fire.
  • Entretenir: ability to contain the fire of a closing element.
  • Isolation: thermal insulation as the ability to maintain temperature within a predetermined range.

The test element is considered to lose stability in the event of collapse, to lose sealing when persistent flames appear on the façade not exposed to fire, and to lose thermal insulation when its internal temperature exceeds the permitted temperature range.
All the firefighting depots for flammables that we realize are tested and validated REI 120 by RINA, accredited body for the issue of the certificate of conformity to the project, and guarantee to all companies, both national and international operating, maximum safety and quality.  This certificate is in fact fundamental in various member countries of the European Union, including Italy.

UNI EN ISO 3834:2-2021

The UNI EN ISO 3834:2-2021 standard sets out guidelines and standards for all welding activities and the production process.
This standard is mandatory and fundamental because it has been drawn up to regulate both the various stages of the welding process and for the evaluation of the quality of the process itself.

The welding quality management system is integrated with the quality management system UNI EN ISO 9001:2015.

UNI EN 13501-2

The standard UNI EN 13501-2 on "Fire classification of products and construction elements", specifically Part 2 on "Classification based on the results of fire resistance tests, excluding ventilation systems".
The standard regulates the classification of products and construction elements according to their fire resistance and smoke resistance (which fall within the direct scope of the relevant test method).

, comply with all the national and EU regulations. All our models are fully customizable and we manufacture in compliance to specific EU Countries regulations indeed.
